After missing the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament the last two years the Mountain Lions have found themselves in prime position to make some noise. With Colorado Christian's walk off winner on Saturday, the Mountain Lions have secured their spot in the conference tournament. Although the series against Metropolitan State - Denver did not go as planned, the door was opened. With one week left in the regular season the Mountain Lions look to build some steam leading into tournament time. Colorado State - Pueblo comes to town for senior weekend after a strong showing against Adams State University. After a very tense series last year between the Thunderwolves and the Mountain Lions, the Mountain Lions are looking to let the Thunderwolves know what they are about. The series will be moved up one day due to the start of the conference tournament starting on Wednesday.

The tournament looks to be hosted by Colorado Mesa University, who holds their own destiny in their hands with MSU Denver coming to town. With one of the most premier NCAA Division II baseball facilities, they play the perfect host. At this point in time, the Mountain Lions would see the home team in the first round of the tournament, after contributing to two of the three losses Colorado Mesa has in conference play this year. The last time the Mountain Lions faced the Mavericks in the conference tournament the home team came out on top in an absolute heartbreaker under the lights for the Mountain Lions.

There have been some occurrences this year that were last accomplished by the 2021 RMAC tournament winning team. After throwing two shutouts in the opening weekend of the year, the 2025 team not only threw the first shutout since 2021, but had the first two shutout weekend since 2021 when the Mountain Lions threw two against Colorado Christian. In 2022, the Mountain Lions also got swept by Regis University, but went on to eliminate the Regis from the tournament on day two. The last time that the Mountain Lions split with Colorado Mesa, they ended up winning the tournament in 2021.

Although the Mountain Lions had their fair share of ups and downs throughout the year, the Mountain Lions look to join elite company and etch their names in the history books. With the tournament set to start Wednesday, May 7th, the Mountain Lions have a week and a half to polish their game and build some momentum before the Conference Tournament.
